In this six-week class, we’ll read How Compassion Works: A Step-by-Step Guide to Cultivating Well-Being, Love, and Wisdom—a newly released book by Lama John Makransky and Dr. Paul Condon. The book draws on decades of Tibetan Buddhist meditation teaching and cutting-edge insights from psychological science. The book offers a rare and powerful synthesis of Tibetan compassion practices, attachment theory, and contemplative psychology.
John’s teachings have been central to my own practice and teaching for over a decade—and as you probably know, I’m all about Attachment Theory and therapeutic modalities like Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems. This book brings together two of my deepest passions and most reliable personal resources. I’m so excited to share these with you and explore them together!
Each 75-minute class includes a guided meditation, a short teaching based on that week’s chapter, and time for group reflection and discussion. We will focus particularly on how we can apply the teachings on compassion into our actual lives each week – and what changes in our experience internally and externally when we do.
All sessions will be recorded and shared within 48 hours of each class.
This course is offered on a dana (generosity-based) model. Please pay what feels good and meaningful to you.
